Daniela Banatova

Daniela Banatova was born in the Czech Republic and currently resides in the U.S. She studied textile art design at the Stredni Prumyslova Textilni Skola in Brno, Czech Republic and earned a M.A. in Art History at Masaryk University. She has worked as an art instructor in public and private schools in Europe as well as establishing the School for Young Arts in Ostrava. In 2009 she was voted Business Person of the Year in the city of Belleview and in 2010 was honored with the Key to the City Award for her involvement and contribution to the Belleview art scene. Her latest work "Danae" was exhibited in "Lace not Lace: Contemporary Fiber Art from Lace Making Techniques" at the Hunterdon Art Museum in New Jersey.  International lace exhibition Irealnd The Space Betweena non-profit to promote children's art in Europe in addition to founding art clubs in Florida. As an artist deeply rooted in the rich tradition of bobbin lace, I strive to infuse this ancient technique with a contemporary perspective. My journey began during my studies at a textile art school, where I was introduced to the intricate world of bobbin lace and became captivated by its possibilities.

My work draws inspiration from abstract forms and the natural world, aiming to bring a fresh, modern language to this traditional art form.

Through my art, I seek to honor the heritage of bobbin lace while pushing its boundaries, creating pieces that resonate with contemporary audiences and breathe new life into this timeless craft.
