Daniela Banatova was born in the Czech Republic and currently resides in the U.S. She studied textile art design at the Stredni Prumyslova Textilni Skola in Brno, Czech Republic and earned a M.A. in Art History at Masaryk University. She has worked as an art instructor in public and private schools in Europe as well as establishing the School for Young Arts in Ostrava. StatementAs an artist deeply rooted in the rich tradition of bobbin lace, I strive to infuse this ancient technique with a contemporary perspective. My journey began during my studies at a textile art school, where I was introduced to the intricate world of bobbin lace and became captivated by its possibilities.
